Request for details of Educational policy relating to non-magical background children

Roedd y cais yn rhannol lwyddiannus.

Dear The White Council,

Please treat this as a Freedom of Information request.

I would like information about the educational policy relating to the schooling of children from non-magical backgrounds.

In particular, please supply me with:

1. The number of non-magical background children admitted to schools in the past 5 years
2. What prerequisite talents must manifest before a child can be considered
3. Information on refusal of magical education by non-magical parents

This may include, but should not be limited to, statistics and other materials such as reports, spreadsheets, and relevant messages sent via tools such as email, WhatsApp, Slack, Yammer, or Signal.

I am interested in all relevant recorded information dated from June 2015 to November 2020.

I would prefer to receive information in a machine readable format, such as CSV files for data. I would prefer not to receive information in pdf format files.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Yours faithfully,

Jen Bramley

Sarina John, The White Council

Dear Jen,

You wrote to us to request information about our Educational Policies relating to children from non-magical backgrounds. All of our Educational Polices are held by the Archive. To make an appointment with the Archive please contact your nearest Warden who can arrange with Kincaid for a meeting on accorded neutral ground.

You also asked:

1. The number of non-magical background children admitted to schools in the past 5 years

We do not have specific schools for magical children, instead they are placed with mentors who teach them about magic while they also attend to other non-magical education.

2. What prerequisite talents must manifest before a child can be considered

Each child is different and each manifestation is different. We will train any child that comes to us that has any sort of magical talent.

3. Information on refusal of magical education by non-magical parents

It is rare but for the safety of the child - as non-trained magical talents can be dangerous and cause severe psychological damage - these children are usually strongly encouraged to accept mentorship. If they do not and they harm another with their talents, unfortunately they are terminated.

I hope this answers your question.

All the best

Sarina
