A media organisation and a publicly funded charity, also called BFI

This authority is not subject to FOI law, so is not legally obliged to respond (details).

The BFI is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. We have added it to WhatDoTheyKnow.com on the grounds it is substantially publicly funded and has a role in the distribution of public funds. The BFI is included in the Whole of Government Accounts and was established by a Royal Charter.

The BFI receives its grant-in-aid from the Department for Culture Media and Sport. BFI is a registered charity regulated by the Charity Commission. Following the abolition of the UK Film Council in 2011, the BFI has been responsible for all Lottery funding for film.
